OUR HISTORY

When the new Pasorate began on December 18, 1982, the name was changed to Lighthouse Temple Church of God in Christ.  Had a membership of five (5) elderly women over the age of 50 and the Pastor's family which consisted of his wife and two sons.

Those women were, Mother Ruth Allmon, Mother Audrey Scroggins, Mother Toney, Mother Myrtle Wilson and Mother Hassie Mack.  These women were praying women and they kept the church going after the demise of Elder Allmon.   Shortly after getting here, the souls began to hunger and thirst for the word and revival broke out one Sunday Night, after church had let out, when the Spirit of God fell and the young people began to be filled with the Holy Ghost.  Pretty soon the little church on the tracks was busting at the seams.

God gave the pastor the vision to talk to the White Family about the old Baptist Church, which had set empty for years, and we purchased it for $10,000.  We marched as a church from 315 West Eleventh Street to 215 West Eleventh Street and remained there until the building was condemned.  We wandered in the wilderness for 7 months and God as he has so many times before, kept everyone together, not one person left the church and others came and joined in with us.  Seventh month deliverance came, the visionary led us to 202 West Ninth Street, the old Assembly of God Church, which had been burned by young boys several years prior and had been empty.

We purchased the property March 13th 2008 and first official service was June 15th 2008 as we marched and those who could not march rode the church bus to the new location.  What a high time in the Lord that Sunday.
